Overview
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries, creating new opportunities - and new legal considerations - at a pace that demands sophisticated counsel. Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C.'s multi-disciplinary AI practice group brings together leading business litigators, corporate attorneys and counsel trained in AI governance and compliance laws, regulations, and standards to deliver comprehensive legal guidance across a broad range of AI-related matters.
Our AI practice group provides legal services across three core areas:
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution. Drawing on the firm’s deep trial and appellate experience, our attorneys can assist clients in AI-related litigation, including complex and high-stakes commercial litigation, product liability, consumer fraud, employment-related matters, and trade secret issues relating to the development or deployment of AI software. We also work proactively with leadership teams to assess potential exposure associated with AI development and deployment, helping to identify and address issues creating litigation risk before disputes arise. In addition, the business litigators in our AI practice group are converting developments in AI-related legal precedent and compliance standards into practical advice regarding litigation issues such as the attorney-client privilege and attorney work product doctrine; confidentiality and business secrets; and discoverability and admissibility.
- Corporate & Transactional. Our attorneys offer comprehensive business law support to AI-related companies, founders, engineers, developers, funding sources and entrepreneurs. We help businesses at the start-up, venture-backed, and institutional stage with routine legal issues that impact their operations, prospects and value. Our role for clients has included founder and C-Suite executive counseling, equity-holder relations, advising on approaches to address traditional and new-to-market legal issues encountered by operating businesses, commercial partner arrangements such as supply chain and distribution channel concerns, and special/extraordinary transactions and initiatives such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. In addition, our attorneys offer outside general counsel services to provide ongoing legal support to organizations developing and deploying AI programs as they scale their business.
- Governance and Compliance. Our attorneys offer counsel on AI governance and compliance and can work with clients to develop and implement AI use policies and protocols that incorporate best practices and AI governance frameworks, including the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, AI-related international standards (ISOs), and federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance. Our team includes attorneys trained and certified in IAPP's AI Governance Professional program, one of the leading professional certifications focused on AI governance and compliance. The AIGP credential is a premier certification promoted by the validating expertise in developing, deploying, and managing Artificial Intelligence systems responsibly, with a focus on risk management, international ethical frameworks, and compliance with emerging regulations in the United States and abroad. The certification requires a rigorous examination, and maintenance requires continuing education and participation in qualifying events, ensuring professionals remain up to date with the latest developments in this growing field of law and study.
