At Pashman Stein Walder Hayden we are committed to recruiting, retaining and developing talented employees with diverse backgrounds and to building an inclusive workforce. We believe that diversity and inclusion is more than a target to reach. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is much deeper than numbers. We know that having varied perspectives helps generate better ideas to solve complex problems, which allows us to better serve our clients and community. The Diversity & Hiring Committee at the firm aims to not only recruit and retain a diverse workforce, but also foster and encourage employee engagement. We aim to reduce and work toward eliminating inequity in our hiring process and to ultimately unleash the true potential of what a brilliant mix of diverse people can accomplish.
In furtherance of the Diversity & Hiring Committee’s goal to recruit and retain diverse and talented attorneys, we have several active initiatives:
Law School Recruitment - Dedicated to recruiting and developing diverse entry level talent, we have fostered strong relationships with Rutgers Law School and its Minority Student Program, as well as with Seton Hall Law School. The firm actively recruits talent through both schools’ On-Campus Interviewing process. Also, the firm has a summer associate program for law students who exhibit superior academic performance, integrity and the ability to assume responsibility. We welcome dialogue with law students interested in learning more about Pashman Stein Walder Hayden and the firm’s summer and post-graduate programs.
Candidate Evaluation and Interviewing - Committed to creating a comprehensive and thoughtful interview and candidate evaluation process, we ensure that a diverse group of the firm’s attorneys review the credentials of all potential hires. Our objective is to evaluate candidates fairly and to reduce and eliminate any biases in our firm’s hiring process.
- Affinity Bar Relations - Created to foster strong relationships with state and county bar associations and legal and community organizations that have a common goal of diversity and inclusion in the workforce. Through interaction with the associations and organizations, our attorneys share information about the firm’s initiatives and actions to recruit diverse and exceptional lateral attorneys and learn more about their members.
- Education - Designed as an internal forum for our attorneys to receive education regarding unconscious bias, and to develop skills and protocols that will help the firm sustain an environment that supports diversity and inclusion.
