Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. is pleased to announce that Valerie Jules McCarthy has been elevated to partner, effective January 1, 2026. McCarthy is a member of the firm’s Family Law practice.

In 2025, McCarthy was selected for inclusion in the 2025 list of “Unsung Heroes” by the New Jersey Law Journal as part of its New Jersey Legal Awards 2025. According to the New Jersey Law Journal, the “Unsung Hero” award celebrates attorneys who work tirelessly behind the scenes and are indispensable to the efforts of their firm.
McCarthy concentrates her practice on a wide range of family law matters, including high-conflict and high-net-worth divorces, equitable distribution, alimony and child support, custody and parenting time disputes, civil union dissolutions, domestic violence proceedings, guardianships, and post-judgment litigation.
She is a member of the Family Law Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and served as Co-Chair of the 2025 Annual Meeting Programming Committee for the National Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. McCarthy is also a member of the Family Law section of the Bergen County Bar Association, Women Lawyers in Bergen County, Association of Black Women Attorneys, and the Garden State Bar Association.
At Pashman Stein, McCarthy serves as Chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and is an active member of the Women’s Leadership and Wellness & Sustainability Committees.
