Joseph A. Hayden, Jr. Discusses Future of American Voting with Insider NJ
Joseph A. Hayden, Jr., co-chair of the Criminal Defense and Investigations practices at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was recently quoted in an Insider NJ article titled, “New Jerseyans Step Up to Oppose Trump Attack on Elections.” The article discusses how New Jersey political leaders and residents are pushing back against President Trump’s comments about elections being nationalized, arguing that voting systems are constitutionally controlled by the states and should be protected from federal overreach.
"I don't care what he wants to do," said Insider NJ legal analyst and revered defense attorney Joe Hayden, who marched for American Civil Rights with Dr. Martin Luthor King in Selma, Alabama. "He can't legally do it. The federal government can't take it over. He can ruminate all he likes, but he is constricted by the U.S. Constitution.”
"By nationalizing the elections, he's going to have the national government look at the voting rolls. He can ruminate with his sycophants around him but legally and constitutionally he can't do it - not without a fight to the death,” said Hayden.
