The Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. Welcomes Iris Bromberg as Senior Public Interest Counsel
Hackensack, NJ (April 16, 2026) - The Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. is pleased to announce that Iris Bromberg has joined as Senior Public Interest Counsel. In this role, Bromberg will advance the Center’s mission and expand the reach of its public interest impact.
Established in 2019, the Stein Public Interest Center is dedicated to a broad range of public interest impact litigation and appellate advocacy that defends democracy, the rule of law, and the freedom of speech; advances social, racial, and economic justice; protects civil liberties and constitutional rights; and promotes an open and transparent government.

About Iris Bromberg
Prior to joining the firm, Bromberg was Deputy Associate Director of the Affirmative Enforcement Unit at the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, where she led director-initiated systemic civil rights investigations and enforcement matters, including matters involving fair housing, equal educational access, and LGBTQ+ equity. During her tenure, she served on several interagency task forces and strike forces, including the Attorney General’s Reproductive Strike Force and the Governor’s Wealth Disparity Task Force. She also served in leadership roles on special initiatives, including the Division’s Voter Protection Initiative and the Home Appraisal Task Force.
Previously, Bromberg was a senior staff attorney and open government specialist within Manhattan Legal Services’ (MLS) LGBTQ+ and HIV Advocacy Unit, where she provided free direct representation in a wide range of civil areas, including discrimination, immigration, housing law, name changes, and public benefits. She also represented tenants facing eviction within a right-to-counsel framework in MLS’s Housing Unit.
Bromberg began her legal career at the American Civil Liberties of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ), where she rose from a fellow to a staff attorney, focusing on impact litigation, policy development, and promoting government accountability and civic engagement through open government laws.
Bromberg has received several recognitions throughout her career, including being named as one of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40 for her demonstrated and profound dedication to LGBTQ+ equality and excellence in her fields. In addition, she was selected as a 2024 Democracy Fellow and a 2022 Affirmative Leaders Fellow by the Public Rights Project, and a 2023 Avodah Justice Fellow.
Bromberg earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School, where she was a Marsha Wenk Public Interest Fellow with the ACLU-NJ, co-chair of the LGBTQIA+ Caucus, and student advocate in both the Immigrant Rights Clinic and the Child Advocacy Clinic.
