Roger Plawker, chair of the Attorney Ethics & Professional Misconduct practice group at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted in a New Jersey Law Journal article titled, “A Strict Disciplinarian Is Leaving: What Does This Mean for Lawyer Ethics?” The article discusses the recent retirement of Maurice Gallipoli from the Disciplinary Review Board of the New Jersey’s Office of Attorney Ethics after having spent 12 years as chair. A former Hudson County assignment judge, Gallipoli built a reputation for his strict approach to attorney ethics.

Judge Gallipoli is to be commended for his long and dedicated service on the board,” said Roger Plawker, who represents other attorneys in ethics cases. “He held attorneys to a high standard, and endorsed outcomes and disciplinary consequences grounded in a strict and narrow reading of the Rules of Professional Conduct, but never without a thorough review of the record and robust questioning affording respondents an opportunity to be heard. His passion will be missed.”
