Howard Pashman Quoted in Cherry Hill Courier-Post Article on Ruling Overturning Conviction Obtained in Traffic Stop

Howard Pashman, attorney at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted in Cherry Hill Courier-Post article, “Ruling overturns conviction after man’s prison time has ended.” The article discusses a recent Appellate Division decision vacating the conviction of a defendant, who had served 2 years in prison and was on parole, for charges in connection with a traffic stop. On appeal, it was argued that the traffic stop was illegal because the officer lacked a reasonable, articulable suspicion that the defendant violated the failure-to-signal statute. Howard Pashman represented the defendant in the appeal as pro bono counsel designated by the Office of the Public Defender.

[The defendant], identified in court records as a Camden County resident, is “very happy” with the decision, said his attorney, Howard Pashman of Hackensack.

Thursday’s ruling determined the traffic stop "was illegal and that, as a result, all of the evidence that the police found as a result of the stop should never have been used at trial,” said Pashman, of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Law Center.
