CJ Griffin, Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, was quoted by the Star-Ledger in its editorial, “Body cams are coming, but more police reform is needed.” The editorial discusses recent legislation relating to police body cameras. It quotes Griffin extensively regarding the regarding body cameras and other police transparency issues that are pending before the Legislature.

Moreover, Internal Affairs records are deeply buried, so there is no way of knowing how cops police themselves, perpetuating a “secret culture that is toxic,” as open records attorney CJ Griffin describes it.

Lawmakers need to step up now, and prove that Griffin is wrong in her assessment that they would rather “kick the can until there is no longer any public pressure to pass anything relevant.”
