CJ Griffin, director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted in Asbury Park Press article, “Are Asbury Park PD internal investigations really being conducted? A lawsuit seeks answers.” Among other things, the article discusses the landmark case litigated by Griffin, Richard Rivera v. the Union County Prosecutor's Office, in which the New Jersey Supreme Court held that internal affairs reports may be released pursuant to the common law right of access.

CJ Griffin, said "it truly is a landmark case."

"Internal affairs reports have been shrouded in complete secrecy in New Jersey for decades, unlike many other states. This opens them up for the first time and I’m sure for years to come we’ll see access expand as we expose more and more misconduct, and more and more failures in the internal affairs process to hold officers properly accountable," Griffin said.
