CJ Griffin attorney at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden was quoted in The Trentonian’s article, “BOE, ACLU-NJ files briefs in Trenton BOE merit pay controversy.” The article explains The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey filed briefs against the Trenton Board of Education and believe the board violated the state “Sunshine Law”.

“Because Defendants have deprived Plaintiff and the public of their substantive rights by failing to comply with OPMA’s adequate notice provisions when it held a secretive executive session to award its superintendent a nearly $25,000 merit bonus, this Court should find Defendants in violation of both OPMA and the NJCRA. The Court should void the action taken by Defendants and, because Defendants’ actions represent a pattern and practice of violating OPMA, the Court should also grant injunctive relief,” C.J. Griffin, the attorney representing the ACLU-NJ, wrote in court papers.
