CJ Griffin Quoted in Article on Releasing the Names of Officers Who Received Major Discipline

CJ Griffin, Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, was quoted in an article on northjersey.com, “NJ court says Grewal can't release names of disciplined cops — for now.” The article discusses Appellate Division’s decision to stay the Attorney General’s directives requiring police departments to release the names of officers who received major discipline.

The court ruling was "very disappointing, as it likely means no disclosures in 2020," said CJ Griffin, a lawyer at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden who represents the coalition of Latino officers and Law Enforcement Action Partnership. Griffin has also represented North Jersey Media Group on public disclosure issues.

Griffin said the Legislature should pass a bill introduced by Sen. Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, "making everything public, rather than the sliver of sunlight the AG was trying to give us that still caused the police unions to panic."
