CJ Griffin, an associate at the law firm of Pashman Stein, PC in Hackensack, N.J., has been named chair of the LGBT Rights Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association for the 2015-2016 term. She assumed her new role after Section members voted on May 14 during the NJSBA’s Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlantic City. As LGBT Section Chair, Griffin will preside over all meetings of the Section, appoint members to special committees, and serve as a point person between the Section and the NJSBA leadership.

In 2014, she served as the Section’s Chair Elect.

“The LGBT Rights Section’s membership is full of pioneers who have led the way to advance LGBT rights at the State and federal level, including playing a key role in bringing marriage equality to New Jersey. I am honored to chair the Section this year and see how we can further serve the LGBT legal community and the LGBT community at large,” said Griffin, who also serves on the NJSBA’s Amicus Committee.

Ms. Griffin is a litigator in the Access to Public Records Practice at Pashman Stein, where she represents online and print media, organizations, and activists in lawsuits to gain access to public records under the Open Public Records Act. She has authored numerous articles on LGBT workplace issue and was a legal intern for the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, which investigates and prosecutes claims of discrimination. Ms. Griffin has also authored amicus briefs on issues such as student bullying and the unconstitutional criminalization of profanity.
