CJ Griffin Files Appeal for Gannett, Seeking Video of a Mayor’s Alleged Racially Charged Comments

CJ Griffin, partner and director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., has filed an appeal for Gannett, the parent company of the Home News Tribune and MyCentralJersey.com, seeking to reverse a trial court’s ruling that blocked access to body camera footage of the Spotswood Mayor allegedly making racially charged comments.

"Transparency is important here," said CJ Griffin . . . "We argued all along that the public deserves to see the exact words and context of what the Mayor said, as opposed to the allegations in Sasso’s complaint, as well as how the police behaved and any violations of law that they committed."

Griffin argued earlier in the case that Palmer "had no reasonable expectation that anything she said to them would be confidential." Griffin also argued that the footage should be made public because it was a continuation of the investigation into the prior events on April 22, 2022 and earlier on April 28, 2022.
