CJ Griffin Discusses Police Bodycam Transparency with New York Magazine
CJ Griffin, partner and director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was recently quoted in a New York Magazine article titled, “The Body-Cam Hustle.” The article discusses how police body-camera footage intended for transparency has become a viral YouTube industry that publicly humiliates mostly young women arrested for minor offenses.
Attorney CJ Griffin, one of New Jersey’s leading transparency advocates, is reluctant to support any legislation that makes it harder to monitor police misconduct. “If we were to make our laws around what some individual person wants to be public,” she tells me, “we would have no transparency around anything.”
