CJ Griffin Quoted in Law360 Pulse Article Regarding Changes to NJ Judiciary's Two-Factor Authentication System

CJ Griffin, partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C., was quoted Law360 Pulse article, “NJ Judiciary Makes Authentication Codes Easier for Atty Use.” The article discusses recent amendments which allow more than one cell phone number and email address to be associated with an attorney’s account used for electronic filings and notices.

CJ Griffin, a partner at Hackensack, New Jersey-based Pashman Stein Walder Hayden PC, also faced hurdles under the original system.

"While two-factor authentication is important for security reasons, the system didn't reflect the realities of most firm practices where associates or legal assistants often do the filings for partners," Griffin told Law360 Pulse. "Assistants also receive all the eCourt notices and then log in to download the filings for attorneys, but the new authentication system meant they could not do so without the partner being available to receive the code and send it to the assistant before it expired 10 minutes later."

When there was only one email address and phone number allowed per attorney, it "created a wrinkle that left us scrambling, and if I was in a Zoom or unavailable, my assistant could not do filings for me," Griffin said.

The ability to add multiple email addresses and phone numbers "will bring the two-factor authentication system in line with the regular eCourts procedures, where an attorney and two others from their firm can all receive the notices and codes," Griffin added.
