COVID-19 Pandemic: A Message from Pashman Stein Walder Hayden's Family Law Group - Client Newsletter
The Pashman Stein Walder Hayden Family Law Group extends our most sincere concern to our clients and colleagues during these difficult times in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. As family matters do not necessarily honor the rules of quarantine, we remain open and fully functioning on a remote basis to address your needs. Our team members are available by phone, email and video conferencing to discuss your issues, questions and concerns. In the event you are confronted with an emergent situation, such as domestic violence or an urgent parenting time impasse, we will arrange to address your issue in person.
Further, it is important to note that, although the New Jersey Superior Court Judiciary has temporarily postponed in-person proceedings, certain emergent family matter proceedings will continue without interruption to the extent possible, including with the use of telephonic and video technology:
(a) Applications for emergent relief where immediate and irreparable harm will occur if the matter is not addressed will be accepted in all courts (including the Appellate Division);
(b) Hearings on incarcerated child support obligors;
(c) Juvenile detention hearings, including Juvenile Detention Alternative Intervention (JDAI) risk assessments; and
(d) Applications for domestic violence temporary restraining orders as submitted through local police departments.
In addition to the foregoing, we anticipate that the Superior Court will reconvene via video conference in the near future to address non-emergent family matters, including motion practice and standard dissolution case management. Likewise, in the event you are interested in proceeding with your matter without the necessity of litigation in the court system, we are able to coordinate mediation and arbitration efforts outside of court.
Our team stands ready to discuss these procedures and your substantive matters with you at your convenience. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
