Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. Named Eight-Time Winner of the New Jersey Law Journal’s Appellate Department of the Year
Pashman Stein Walder Hayden P.C. is proud to announce that it has been named Appellate Department of the Year by the New Jersey Law Journal as part of its 2026 New Jersey Legal Awards. This marks the eighth time the firm has won the award in the past nine years. (No firm received the award in 2023, when Pashman Stein was named winner of the “Law Firm of the Year” award). This award reflects the outstanding work of the firm's Appellate Advocacy practice group on commercial cases and on pro bono and public interest matters through the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center.
"Being named the winner by the New Jersey Law Journal for nine years running underscores the strength and consistency of our appellate practice,” said Michael S. Stein, firm chair and managing partner. “Our appellate lawyers handle some of the most complex and consequential matters before the courts, and this recognition reflects the high caliber of their advocacy and commitment to our clients.”
The firm's appellate practice group, widely recognized as one of the strongest and most sophisticated in the region, regularly handles high-profile appeals for clients large and small before state and federal appellate courts in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
In crafting briefs and preparing for oral arguments, the department draws on the vast experience of its lawyers and former appellate judges, including retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Gary S. Stein, the Hon. Edwin H. Stern, P.J.A.D. (Ret.), and the Hon. Ellen L. Koblitz, P.J.A.D. (Ret.).
In addition to representing clients on appeal in state and federal courts, the department's lawyers and retired judges are routinely retained by other firms to prepare lawyers for appellate arguments, assist in the preparation of briefs and petitions for certification, and consult on appellate strategy.
