Alana Hans-Cohen, an associate at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, has been selected to teach a cannabis course at Medgar Evers College, The City University of New York  (CUNY), for Spring Semester 2023. The title of the course is “Dispensary Standard Operating Procedures” and will provide students with insight into the compliance, quality control, business processes, and financial management of cannabis dispensaries.

Medgar Evers College (MEC) is the first CUNY campus to offer a cannabis minor degree program. In this relatively new and booming industry, this program will assist students in becoming the next generation of entrepreneurs, scientists and business people and aims to serve as a resource for policy-makers through diverse instructors and partnerships and support with organizations, multi-state operators, and state license holders. These cannabis courses provide affordable access and educational opportunities not only to MEC students but to all students at the other 24 CUNY campuses. The core mission is to provide educational workforce development and opportunities for economic expansion for students. You can learn more about this outstanding program here.

“As a CUNY alum, I could not be more excited to be a part of this initiative,” said Hans-Cohen. “I have always had an interest in Cannabis Law because I saw injustice for people who have been disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition, while big business in the industry often does the same with impunity. At Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, I work with an amazing group of people who really know cannabis law and have as much passion for the cannabis industry as I do. I look forward to assisting in educating the next generation of leaders in the Cannabis industry!”
