Alana Hans-Cohen, Associate at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, participated in a Syracuse.com interview titled “NY’s Women in Cannabis: Alana Hans-Cohen”. Hans-Cohen, who has worked in cannabis law since 2016, shared her insights on women breaking into the industry and the adversity they continue to face, as well as her role in New York cannabis law.

After being initially disappointed by the lack of courses regarding cannabis law, Hans-Cohen created and implemented the first ever cannabis law course at Medgar Evers College CUNY. She serves as a director and trustee of the Cannabis Advisory Group and the chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Drugs and the Law, continues to devote her efforts advocating for women and minority-owned businesses in the cannabis industry.

“I encourage the next generation of women leaders to believe in themselves, trust their instincts, and never settle for mediocrity. In a constantly evolving industry like cannabis, it is imperative to always push yourself to learn as much as you can. Don’t settle for the status quo; instead, strive to be the best version of yourself. Turning your passion into knowledge will help you gain respect from your peers and leaders.” Alana replied to a question asking to give her younger self advice.
