CJ Griffin, Director of the Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden, was quoted in the New Jersey Law Journal article, “Civil Rights Lawyer Rachel Wainer Apter Nominated to NJ Supreme Court.”
“CJ Griffin, a partner at Pashman Stein Walder Hayden in Hackensack and executive director of the firm’s Justice Gary S. Stein Public Interest Center, said [Rachel] Wainer Apter would further add gender balance on the state’s seven-member court with a 4-3 male-to-female composition.
‘I have not worked with [Ms. Wainer Apter], but I am very excited by the selection because she has a stellar reputation and we need an attorney with a civil rights background on the bench,’ said Griffin in an email. ‘When Justice LaVecchia announced her retirement I was sad not only because she is a smart and thoughtful justice, but also because so many times when I have appeared at the Supreme Court the only women in the room were me and Justices LaVecchia and [Anne] Patterson (and now Pierre-Louis). So I am very happy that we will be gaining a new woman justice to replace her!’“
