Attorney Andrew Bayer quoted in Asbury Park Press article, “Judge Approves Holmdel Project Bordering Hazlet.” The article explains why a Monmouth County Superior Court Judge approved the Township’s affordable housing strategy to meet its constitutional obligation to provide for its fair share of affordable housing under the Mt. Laurel doctrine, including a 50-unit one hundred percent affordable housing development opposed by neighboring Hazlet.
But attorney Andrew Bayer, representing Holmdel, said the location was proper and previously approved by the Court, noting that Hazlet made its opposition too late in a process that dates back to 2015.
"They are too late to the garden party," Bayer Said. “When the Township initiated this declaratory judgment action in 2015 every municipality in the region was noticed, including Hazlet. Hazlet chose not to participate."
